... can I install Windowx x64 OS (guest) or not? I don't think any virtualization product will *emulate* the CPU. It is just shared between the host and the guest. So on a 32bit macine it will be a 32bit CPU and you cannot run 64 bit software on it, period. No matter if it is in the host or guest.

I tried to rename 64-bit libnwora.so to libnwora64.so, but this does not work. When linked to this library, Oracle still looks for libnwora.so, and then get the 32-bit version. What is the right place that I should to use to install 64-bit libnwora.so? I would like to avoid using LD_LIBRARY_PATH as much as I can.

What if we install 64 bit Linux on an AMD Opteron machine with 8GB of ram. Will Matlab be able to access more memory (64 bit has larger heap, I assume??)?
